Happy New Year!  For many of us, it can’t be soon enough.  The 5 Universal Year of 2003 (2+0+0+3) is finally behind us.  Numerologically, it was a year true to its number.  As a 5 year, 2003 was a time of chaos (Iraq war, life in Iraq after the invasion,) and rebellion (world-wide anti-war protests).  It was a year of uncertainty (soaring unemployment rates, troop deployment, terrorist alerts), and instability (our economy- the weakest in more than a decade).  Last year’s 5 Universal Year brought sudden change (Europe’s surprise heat wave with temperatures up to 104 degrees; the Aug. 14-15 East coast power outage leaving 50 million and most of North America in the dark; Sept. 28, Italy’s 8-hour blackout leaving 95% of population without power), as well as the 1 media promoting one-sided news coverage (the spin-meisters control our news) or failing to report the truth.  In January 2004, we have entered a 6 Universal Year (2 + 0 + 0 + 4) and we can expect things to calm down a bit.

The year 2004 promises to be a time of things more dear to the heart, like issues of the “homeland”, family, marriage, children, a sense of belonging and connection within the community.  Adjustments will need to be made from the changes of last year.  Governments will need to take a more conciliatory approach with its citizens to reduce the potential of civil unrest.  The emphasis will be on services, care, and accommodating the needs of the people, or the lack thereof.  We can expect more time, money and energy will be devoted to health and educational systems.  Expect to see education and children moving into the spotlight.  The words commitment and responsibility will be the main themes for 2004.

It will also be a time we see people wanting to redecorate and beautify things.  Globally and domestically, 2004 will demand a higher value be placed on establishing and maintaining harmony and you can expect the marriage rate to rise.

This 6 Universal Year energy is all around us this year and while it is not the same energy as our Personal Year energy, which guides our lives more directly, the 6 and all of its properties will be felt collectively for everyone.

Your Personal Year

In 2004, all of us are in a new Personal Year vibration.  Each of us has a new number energy directing our months and days.  You can determine your Personal Year number for 2004 with the following calculation.  Simply add the month and day you were born and add it to 6 (2004).

Month of birth + Day of birth + 6 = Personal Year Number for 2004

Remember to reduce your final numbers by adding them together to get a single digit number.  For example, George Bush was born on July 6, so to calculate his personal year number for 2004, it would look like this: 7 + 6 + 6 = 19.  Adding the final numbers together we get 1 + 9 = 10 or 1 + 0 = 1.  Therefore, it is clear that George Bush is in a 1 Personal Year in 2004.  This will be a year that will require courage, decisive action, a year to stand alone, lead, individuate, and become independent.  Much of the year will be about letting go as the cleansing effect of last year, his 9 year, is still operative until about August.

News From The Island

As some of you already know, I moved into a sweet little cottage a stone’s throw from the seaside town of Langley, on Whidbey Island in 2001.  This past summer, I built a new tiny office cottage (with a view of the water, Camano island, the town of Langley) on the back of my property as my writer’s retreat and office.  It served me well when I did the second edition revision of my book, The Complete Idiot’s Guide To Numerology, at the end of the summer- due out this April 2004.  The 14-hour days of writing were soothed by the spectacular view of the Cascade Mountains and Saratoga Passage in glowing strawberry light of the summer sunsets, which were spaciously viewed from the windows of my little office.  This winter, warmly tucked in my cottage, I am hoping to begin writing my next book on the Personal Year.  I’ll keep you posted on my progress.

In this past year several hallmark moments have occurred in my life:  I have a new kitten named Emma, I’ve become a great-aunt, I completed my 3rd year at East West Bookshop as a intuitive arts consultant, I finished my PhD in Metaphysics, my oriental poppies grew to 5 feet blanketing the garden with stunning red double blooms, and I began traveling to teach numerology workshops - my first was with a wonderful group in Portland.  In 2004, I mark my 10th year of living on Whidbey Island.

Often Asked Questions

Does my house number mean anything?  Yes, it does.  The address on your house adds up to a single number and that number indicates what kind of house you are living in.  It also tells what you can expect to go on in your type of house as well as things not to expect while living there. Simply add the numbers of your address together to reach a single digit number.  If you are living in a 1 house, you can expect to learn to be independent while if you live in a 6 your energy will be directed toward “nesting”, family, gardening, and deeply committed relationships. It is a great place for a home-based business. For details on the meaning of your house numbers, consult my book, Chapter 3 “Apartment or House, It’s the Number That Counts.”  It’s a great idea to use your house number energy and feng shui together to enhance specific areas of your home. Did You Know?

Silence brings us back to our natural rhythm.  “Our natural rhythm is the same as nature’s rhythm which is medium to slow.  In the fast lane we may be productive, but we can’t deepen or integrate our experience in the fast track.  This can only be done with the natural rhythm of medium to slow.  All healing occurs in the slower pace.  It’s our natural rhythm.”  Angeles Arrien workshop in Seattle 2003.    Make time in your day for silence and begin to live your life in your natural rhythm.
